Under the guidance and supervision of the EyeWear Center Lead Optician, employee provides dispensing services, fabrication and inventory control for all ophthalmic materials: eyewear, contact lenses and low vision aids. This employee works with ages of patients ranging from infancy to geriatric.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school graduation is required
• Two years work experience as a dispensing optician with appropriate skill in fabrication and/or an Associate degree in Ophthalmic Dispensing
• New York State Ophthalmic Dispensers and/or Contact Lens License is required
• This position requires frequent normal walking, standing and sitting
• You must have the ability to frequently stoop, bend and lean forward and backward
• Occasionally, position may need to assist with transferring patients from wheelchair into examining chair and assist with other similar transfers.
• Position requires frequent contact with patients and many departments within the hospital and clinic setting
• Hazards may include burns by electricity, cuts from broken lenses, working with tools, working with machinery and tinting dyes
•  This position is weekdays.
