The Oncology Pharmacy Specialist is responsible for the direction and production of the oncology pharmacy services. With oversight by the Director - Inpatient/Ambulatory Pharmacy Services and in cooperation with the Pharmacy Supervisor, the Oncology Pharmacy Specialist is responsible for coordinating the operational, clinical, and research initiatives that support the oncology pharmacy program and for the direct supervision of the Senior Pharmacy Technician Specialist. The Oncology Pharmacy Specialist works in cooperation with the Cancer Center personnel to ensure that all chemotherapy ordering, preparation, and administration is carried out accurately and safely according to standard procedure. The Oncology Pharmacy Specialist shares the same job description as the Staff Pharmacist as it relates to acute care services. The person in this position assumes the role of staff pharmacist as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited Pharmacy college program with BS degree.
  • New York State licensure and registration (or eligible).
  • Maintains continuing education requirements mandated for state licensure.
  • No previous hospital experience required but desired.
  • Familiarity with sterile products preparation is desirable.
  • Experience in cancer chemotherapy services a plus.
