What You'll Do
 
We are seeking a Maintenance Supervisor for Waterloo Works Service Parts Organization, leading a team of 25 employees, including maintenance mechanics, electricians and tool makers to achieve safety, quality, cost/expense and delivery goals.  Additionally within this role, you will:
  • Administer employee policies, practices, procedures and work rules appropriate for the unit.  Monitor individual and team performance and take corrective action including discipline, as needed and respond to complaints to ensure the Company and employees adhere to policies, practices, procedures and work rules.
  • Establish employee environment regarding communications, feedback and overall guidance.  Ensure that assigned personnel have appropriate training, work instruction and tools to successfully do their job.
  • Determine maintenance priorities based on the production schedule and make daily assignments including filling vacancies and assigning overtime in order to adhere to the needs of the production operations.
  • Implement and monitor safety programs and housekeeping.
  • Plan for maintenance of equipment and facilities to maximize the uptime and utilization of capital equipment assets.
  • Monitor and make corrections to stay within the department operating budget.
  • Direct departmental continuous improvement plans and activities.

An Associates Degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or other equivalent technical discipline with 3 - 5 years experience in a maintenance environment OR a 4 year technical degree with a minimum of 2 years experience is required. Certification and licenses will be considered toward experience as well.  Additionally, this role will require:
  • Strong prioritization and organization skills (i.e. preventative maintenance programs, tool crib organization).
  • Knowledge of safety, quality and environmental laws, regulations and goals.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality, tooling, tool design, total preventative maintenance and facilities.
  • Knowledge of shop floor manufacturing (CIPP) and/or maintenance pay systems.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Just-in-Time, Kanban, Demand Flow Technology.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated team leadership and mentoring experience.
Desired:
  • 3 - 5 years of supervisory experience in a production maintenance environment.
  • Experience in a leadership role in a union environment.
  • Skilled in electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical troubleshooting for CNC machining centers, gear cutting equipment, and robotic systems.
  • Experience in supporting precision gear manufacturing.
  • Technical skills or work experience in PLC control system design, communication bus interfaces, and wireless communications.
  • Knowledge of contract management and Materials & Systems tracking systems.
  • Knowledge of general accounting in support of establishing and managing departmental operating budgets.
  • Experience with Maintenance Management systems.
  • Experience in use of statistical tools and techniques for quality improvement.
  • Experience with Production Control systems, preferably SAP.
