develops, constructs, owns and operates wind projects. John Deere's
wind portfolio consists of more than 3 dozen projects capable of
generating over 700 MW in eight states. John Deere Wind Energy is a

John Deere Credit is
seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer.
Responsibilities include:
- Support the operation and
maintenance of the electrical infrastructure, including high
voltage substations and collection systems of our wind
farms.
- Manage design tasks for new
projects.
The position is ideal for an
individual who has broad technical expertise and is comfortable in
a fast paced team that requires flexibility and self-directed
multitasking.
- You will have a degree in
electrical engineering with a good understanding of power
generation plants and utility systems, combined with a passion for
renewable energy technologies. Candidate should also have "soft
skills" to foster internal and external relationships.
- Operation & maintenance
support for wind turbines, collection systems, substations, grid
interconnection facilities, underground and overhead cabling,
capacitor banks, filters, DVAR systems, controls, metering and
communication equipment.
- Development and implementation
of maintenance procedures for electrical equipment to minimize
downtimes and revenue losses.
- Interpretation of SCADA data
for troubleshooting and root cause analysis purposes.
- Optimization of protection
coordination schemes.
- Compliance monitoring of
technical interconnection and regulatory requirements.
- Management of electrical scope
of work during the design phase of new wind projects, using
internal and external resources.
- Development of specifications
and requirements for electrical equipment, working closely with
supply management.
Skills
-
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or
equivalent combination of education and experience
-
3+ years experience in electrical substation,
transmission system, distribution systems, or power generation
design
-
Some experience with power system analysis tools
such as PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerWorld Simulator, Direct Coordination,
etc.

Familiarity with electronic test equipment and
data acquisition systems

Ability to travel approximately 30% of the
time
-
Ability to lift 50 lbs and climb 280 ft.
Preference may be given to candidates with one or
more of the following attributes:

Registered Professional Engineer
-
Experience with distribution systems and
substations, high voltage systems up to 230 kV
-
Proficiency with SEL equipment
-
Experience in wind farm operations.
