NFM Inc is looking for an experienced Mortgage Licensing Specialist to work in our corporate office located in Linthicum, MD.

Position:  Mortgage Licensing Specialist

 Supervisor:  General Counsel

 Starting Salary:  

Between the salary of $35,000 and $40,000 and commensurate with education & experience

 Department Summary:  

Legal and Compliance is involved in ensuring that all departments, processes, and procedures are legal and compliant. Legal and Compliance staff are familiar with licensing requirements, state and federal banking compliance laws, and have the contacts and resources to help prevent or resolve legal and compliance issues if they arise.

 Position Summary:  

The Mortgage Licensing Specialist will be responsible for the developing and managing a systematic management framework for all company, branch, LO, processor licensing and continuing education. In addition, s/he will be responsible for processing applications for and maintaining current licensing for every jurisdiction for certificates of authority, mortgage lending, brokering, and loan officers. The Mortgage Licensing Specialist will also be responsible for handling all types of licensing matters for all of NFM's branches and corporate headquarters. This individual must have strong organizational skills as well as actual hands-on past experience in managing Mortgage licenses.

 Essential Job Functions:  

Specific tasks will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Maintain a listing of all the requirements for each license.

- Manage all aspects of licensing projects.

- Respond quickly to corporate or branches regarding the requirements for approval.

- Follow submission, tracking each license application until it is approved.

- Inform applicable parties of application/license status.

- Maintain a calendar and managing license renewals.

- Efficiently obtaining licenses in new states or authorizations to expand operations.

- Handle all types of licensing matters, including:

  • - Lending, brokering, loan officer, processor (and possibly in the future, purchasing and servicing)
  • First and subordinate lien residential mortgage loans
  • Closed-end and open-end transactions
  • Conforming and subprime loans
  • Federal and quasi-federal approvals, including HUD/FHA, (and possibly in the future, VA, FannieMae,
  • FreddieMac, GinnieMae, and FmHA)
  • Changes of control and addresses
  • Trade name licensing
  • Branch and cross-branch licensing
  • Exemption reviews
  • Renewal and annual reporting
  • Regulatory agency and secretary of state audits to determine whether licensee maintains proper licensing and whether licensee remains in good standing
  • Experience, education, lease and bond requirements
  • Compilation of loan specifics and financial statements to be filed with licensing authority.
  • Registration of qualified individuals and/or loan officer licensing/registration
  • Continuing education requirements
  • Document management
  • Record retention requirements
  • Handling corporate and organizational matters for corporations, such as:
  •  Incorporation or organization
  • Drafting bylaws
  • Qualification to do business in foreign jurisdictions
  • Qualification renewals and annual reports
  • Trade name registration, with both state and local agencies, and renewals
  • Processing Lender, Correspondent Lender, and Warehouse Line Applications and Contracts
  • Renewals of bonds and insurance policies
  • Drafting of policies and procedures and training regarding license requirements.
  • Participating in special research projects, involving such issues as advertising, disclosure, or fee requirements
  • Summarize and provide status reports to senior management.

- Support the Legal and Compliance Team in order to lead the legal and compliance process in

  NFM Inc. and work effectively with other departmental staff and managers;
- Be familiar with the regulations, objectives, and history for HUD/FHA, and state;
- Integrate into a fast-paced, teamwork-focused work environment. Due to the heavy workload

  and multiple deadlines, Legal and Compliance staff interact and collaborate extensively;
- In some situations the specialist may take a leading role on a project which may include

  researching relevant regulations, developing policies, and working with Branch Managers and

  other department heads. A supporting role may include preparing draft procedures, researching

  new regulations, and document production;
- Analyze solicitations to advise managers and mortgage bankers how to best conceptualize the 

  licensing process and offer comments that assist the staff to fully incorporate compliance and

  licensing within the employee's position, as well as highlighting all applicable and important

  regulatory requirements;
- Review licensing procedures to ensure that the licenses are aligned with the

  needs/procedures/outcomes of the regulation;
- Guide managers and mortgage bankers in understanding the nuances of different types of

  licensing regulations;
- Conduct thorough Quality Checks to ensure uniform quality and stylistics of Licensing outputs;

Education:  

Bachelors in one of the following or related fields: Business Administration or Paralegal required or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

 

Experience:  2 year(s) of relevant experience required

Specific Knowledge Requirements:
Minimum two years experience in mortgage licensing, and paralegal services with firm(s) involved in the mortgage industry. 

Experience with NMLS, Excel, Outlook, Encompass, State Licensing Agency reporting software, ALLRegs, preferred experience desirable;

Knowledge, understanding, and experience working with HUD/FHA required.

 Special Requirements:  

This job will require a criminal background check.
