- Re-positioned the product to take advantage of emerging on-demand service delivery model. Identified path for altering the existing technology from traditional installed test automation tool to on-demand application monitoring.. This shift, which created unique customer value proposition, opened up new business opportunities and already resulted in rapidly increasing market interest.

The JGI represents a merger of the DOE Genome Centers at the three National Laboratories funded by DOE to provide high throughput, large-scale genomic sequencing and genomic research.
Hired to bring startup innovation to this large government research organization. Leading Informatics
department, which consists of cross-functional team of 60+ engineers and scientists responsible for development of software and infrastructure. Systems developed by the Informatics department automate all aspects of JGI: from project tools to genomic pipelines and web portals used for data analysis by scientists worldwide (web development, LIMS, computational tools, data management, and systems administration).
- Defined a vision for extending availability of scientific knowledge to the public by merging several web sites into one portal, resulting in dramatic increase in center???s popularity.
- Replaced antiquated, siloed information systems with web-based enterprise systems using Web 2.0 technologies
- Shortened development lifecycle from years to weeks using Agile methodology.
- Lead build out of the High Performance Computing center with 1.4PB storage and 3160 CPU SGE cluster.

Responsible for managing the Community engineering organization delivering well-respected www.webshots.com photo/video sharing site. Served as a key member of the executive team. CNET sold Webshots to American Greetings of Cleveland, Ohio.
- Lead effort to stabilize and scale the Webshots infrastructure and applications.
- Re-architected Webshots from legacy Perl FastCGI code to Java/JSP and MySQL, which allowed growth from 23MM page views per day to over 60MM page views per day in just over four months.
- Responsible for over 26MM unique monthly visitors, 1.5MM (peak) daily photo uploads and over 500MM online photos.

NextCard was the first issuer of credit card online, using real-time personalized underwriting and pricing. Reporting to a CIO, managed several full cycle enterprise software development projects. Was a major contributor in establishing a successful Technology organization as a lead strategist and a key member of the Technology management team. Oversaw engineering shutdown during the company liquidation.
??? Charged with defining the strategic direction and implementing a new CRM technology initiative focused on back-to-front and cross-channel integration to provide customers and customer-facing employees (Loyalty Marketing, Customer Risk Management) with the same panoramic view of the customer.

In a short time realized a complete CRM solution composed of out-bound (Mercury) and in-bound (NextStep) systems featuring state-of-the-art technologies such as real-time credit risk analytics, workflow automation, CTI and distributed computing to provide powerful tools for automating processes and implementing knowledge management.
??? The system reduced campaign turnaround time from months to hours and generated $40MM of added revenue in FY2001 and reduced processing time from weeks to days, resulting in a 25% decrease in booking cost per account. The CRM system was instrumental in winning and keeping profitable customers by aligning customer facing processes, technologies and people with corporate strategy.
??? Launched a successful reuse effort, based on a multi-tier application architecture that structured the objects into a hierarchy of technology layers.
