How would you describe your time at EG&G Technical Services?

After the funding was cut for the project I worked on for Northrop Grumman, I accepted a position as a System Safety Engineer for EG&G Technical Services. My current duties include safety engineering and technical management support in the preparation and review of system safety documentation, safety plans, engineering change proposals, and hazard analyses. Safety Engineering requires the review and analysis of technical documentation and physical system inspections to ensure that systems adhere to established safety criterion. In addition, I am in charge of the coordination of safety charter meetings and hazard tracking databases required to support government customers.... read more

How would you describe your time at Northrop Grumman?

I started with Northrop as a Field/Hardware engineer in the simulations and communications program. During this time, I built and configured Windows based computer simulation systems used to support the Navy. I also directly supported customers by routing and configuring encrypted voice and data communications between various sites worldwide. After completing my degree in 2005, I was accepted for a position in the software test group. This position required me to create test procedures based on the requirements mandated in the system specifications and use these procedures to ensure that software releases met the design specification set forth by the government customers. This testing consisted of regression, Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V), and compatibility testing. I was also responsible for creating test matrices used to report findings to the software developers for investigation and/or code revision.... read more

How would you describe your time at Chugach?

This position was a midnight to 8:00 am maintenance position at the Aegis Computer Center in Dahlgren, VA. During my employment I supported several labs consisting of networked naval combat system equipment and simulators used to test software packages bound for Aegis ships. I also created a tracking database used to store configuration data for mobile simulation systems used to configure the lab floors. A typical evening involved testing, troubleshooting, and repairing electronic and computerized systems as well as configuring and routing lab equipment in an effort to support government and contracting customers.... read more

How would you describe your time at raytheon?

This was my first civilian position after separating from the Navy in 2000. I was hired to maintain and calibrate a system of tape backup units and robotic assemblies. The company sent me through 3 weeks of training only to move me to a completely different project the day I completed the course. This was a new system that was still under development even though it had been sold to and was in use by several customers. The system consisted of a high speed switch system (HIPPI 800 & 1600 standard) for which there was no hardcopy documentation or training. In order to figure out how the system worked and support my customers I had to print out system diagrams and schematics from what little microfiche was available. Then I had to go through all the prints and catalog each component and its location in the supply chain. All of this information was placed into a custom database that I designed in HTML and Java and placed on our internal server. This site also became a repository for configuration management and maintenance and troubleshooting procedures that I developed as I continued to support the system. All in all, this was an excellent learning experience that taught me that I have in myself the ability to jump in head first into a given situation and build a program from scratch.... read more

How would you describe your time at United States Navy?

This was perhaps my most challenging duty station while in the Navy. It was there that I found that I have a passion for teaching and learned how to lead and guide large groups of people toward a common goal.

How would you describe your time at United States Navy?

I enjoyed my time aboard the USS Philippine Sea. I was deployed for three Mediterranean cruises and one Baltic cruise in which I was able to visit incredible places. I learned how to safely work on advanced electronic systems using a variety of test equipment and system schematics. I learned valuable leadership skills which I still use today. I also earned money for College while getting paid to see the world. Overall, I would recommend the Navy as a great starting block.... read more
