How would you describe your dream job in 10 words or less?
Rather than answer the stock questions listed, I am including a brief cover letter in the space provided below:
Dear Human Resources Professional:
I am currently seeking to advance my career in instructional design, training management, writing, or a related position. I have attached my resume for your consideration, and I believe you will find that I am well qualified in this area.
I received my BS in Education with concentrations in English and history in 1998 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and was certified to teach high school from 1998 to 2003. After teaching at Bessemer State Technical College for a year, I worked as an instructional designer / technical writer for a brief period before taking a position as an instructional content developer with the Professional College of Melior Institute (later known simply as Melior, Inc., this company is primarily an automotive and healthcare training and staffing provider.)
In my position as Manager of Program Development and Support at Melior, I wrote and developed educational materials, primarily online training courses and supporting materials, including assessments, brochures, ad copy, emails and newsletters, etc., among other duties. Please consult my resume for further details of my education, experience, and for a list of published works. I will be happy to provide additional samples.
I eagerly look forward to discussing with you the opportunity of joining your organization. Please contact me at your convenience. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey E. Nelson Fultondale, AL 35068 jnelson01@mindspring.com...

Jeff worked for Melior for many years. He was a very loyal and reliable employee. Unfortunately, we had to lay him off when we lost a major contract. I would absolutely hire him back if we had work for him. You can count on Jeff to do an excellent job. Please fell free to contact me if you have work related questions concerning Jeff.

National Manager, Maintenance & Technical Training at United Rentals Inc. Corporate Office
Jeff is highly skilled in technical areas and is an excellent written and oral communicator. I have taken two of the Melior classes that he designed and developed. I also met his former boss on several occasions (at a semi-annual professional association event), and he always had high praise for Jeff.
