How would you describe your time at Whitney Museum of American Art?
I assisted in both curatorial and museum education capacities, dedicating a large portion daily schedule to office and operations. As an artist informed by current issues and concepts in art, I was able to successfully grasp and contribute to the contemporary art programming supported by that exhibition space. During my internship, I provided support for the installation of Haluk Akakce: Illusion of the First Time. I was able to experience both the logistical aspects involved in the realization of an exhibition and also the professional demands of a practicing artist. Through my involvement with the education department, I specifically assisted in various public educational outreach programs, which include gallery tours, exhibition brochures, as well as lectures by artists and curators. My strengths lie in understanding of the art making processes and my ability to convey complex technical information in a down to earth manner. During this internship I was eager to work with homeless youths in the after-school collaboration between the Museum and the Regent Family Residence....
