Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team member. Participated as an ACT advocate for adult consumers with severe and persistent psychiatric conditions; some with dual diagnoses (Axis I, Axis II, and substance abuse), which were often treatment-resistant with histories of non-adherence and increased risk of multiple hospitalizations. Used Person-Centered planning to generate treatment plans and implement measureable objective and interventions. Generated psycho-social/clinical assessments using evidenced based practice building on client strengths, with a focus on diagnosing, psychiatric, developmental, medical, and employment history, mental status, behavioral issues, and treatment recommendations. Provided case management, medication maintenance, 24-hour crisis support, and supportive psychotherapy as needed. Received 1 hour weekly supervision from a PhD Psychologist....

Complete 800+ hour practicum in the University of Michigan Counseling Center. Psychotherapist for students in the age range of 19-40 years using an object-relations/psychodynamically oriented model and other directive approaches (CBT and Motivational Interviewing) with various populations. Worked with an assortment of diagnoses and presenting problems including: anxiety, depression, suicide, eating disorders, sleep disorders, diversity, personality disorders, and developmental issues. How would you describe your time at Judson Center?
Worked with adults with severe disabilities including moderate-mild mental retardation, vision impairments, and emotional needs. Interacted with two of these individuals and helped teach safety and vocational needs. Participated in staff meetings, as well as trainings with the psychologist and staff worker.
Worked 1:1 with an individual on a job as well as with several in a factory where they were doing assembly work. Also worked with individuals with bipolar, obsessive compulsive disorders, traumatic brain injury, and those who were neglected.
The third work location was at a respite home for children with disabilities. Helped the children follow their treatment plans.
Worked with children with Autism and followed the plans with the staff therapist in assessment, play therapy, or other activities. Also exposed to children with Asperger???s Syndrome and those children with a lack of social skills....
