I am currently serving as the upper-level biology courses laboratory technician. I am responsible for preparing for 30 lab sections in 4 different subjects. I am also in charge of ordering supplies and maintaining efficent and orderly laboratory spaces.

I worked at Simple Gifts farm before and during my high school years as a working student. Over the course of 5 years I learned the ins and outs of equine barn management as well as many aspects of equine health care. I was responsible for daily horse care, grooming, feeding, and maintance of the barn. I also prepared horses for their riding lessons. I also implemented routine health care practices when needed (wound care, administering medications, etc.)
During my undergraduate years I continued these responsibilities at the Higgins family farm, caring for 5 - 10 horses including 1 of my own.

Graduated with a MS in Biology. My thesis involved working with equines that survived West Nile Virus infection and determining if their insect-defensive behaviors were changed due to lasting sequelae from the virus.
This research was presented at a professional meeting and is currently being
prepared for publication in a scientific journal.
Gained teaching experience in a variety of subjects and skill levels. I taught general biology laboratory to non-major students, microbiology laboratory to biology and nursing majors, as well as an introductory biology course to high school sophomores.
