Working at LOWE'S as a cashier/customer service associate, the delivery of prompt, courteous, and accurate customer service and tendering transactions is paramount to high quality customer service. This is often accomplished, while multitasking in answering phones, directing phone calls, taking messages and helping customers over the phone. In addition, I process credit card applications, payments and assist with credit related issues that may arise. During this 6 week internship opportunity, I was involved in administrative duties for the Chief of Staff from basic administrative duties of xeroxing and scheduling, to interviewing senior management about their functional department's upcoming projects being implemented and the impact on the organization. After attending a conference, highlighting Best Practice organizations, I completed a report on assessing the qualifications that the Harvard Business Review delineates for achieving the status of a Best Practice Organization, and how Kaiser Permanente has accomplished this in many areas and highlighting other areas of improvement. During this month-long volunteer opportunity, I was on girls volunteer staff, in which we helped with maintenance of the camp, bi-weekly (2x week) cleaning of the cabins for outgoing/incoming guests, meal preparation, and clean-up. How would you describe your time at Mary Baldwin College?

While being at Mary Baldwin College, I quickly realized that I am in school, not only to get a degree and get out, hopefully land that "perfect" job, but I regained a passion for learning, and taking my time near the end allowed for me to do that. I was empowered to lead and learn from my peers, professors and friends. There were financial obstacles which prevented me from finishing school within four years of starting, but since I have and will be paying for my education via loans, there is more of sense of ownership and personal accomplishment.... read more
