My ideal work environment is one in which co-workers treat each other with respect and dignity. My ideal work invironment will reward opportunities for new learning, innovation, initiative, hard work, and self-motivation. My ideal work environment will have my current boss as my new boss! She is good at what she does and very human at the same time. I want responsibility, clear job assignments and the latitude to 'get right to it.' Substitute teaching for grades k - 6 in an overseas setting was a wonderful experience. On what was often very short notice, I absorbed the regular classroom teacher's lesson plan and implement it. The students were everything a teacher could ask for and yet not without challenging behaviors. I had the opportunity to be a part of the inner workings of the school with the added edge that I was publicity chairperson for both the PTSA as well as the Scholarship Committee. Born and raised in Michigan, my move to and education in Hawaii was a lesson in diversity! I attended classes with students from all over the world and was able to have new experiences like rock climbing and scuba diving. Classes were small and therefore, every student had the benefit of and the scrutiny of their professors. No other college would have given me the same education.
