The challenges arose from coordinating multiple systems with little or no similarities in structure and also from dealing with time lags due to the complex multi-system environment. To accomplish this goal I interviewed financial analysts in similar functions at Nestle to find out what their closing process was. I created new custom templates for month end reporting and reconciliations, established close relations with key IT personnel and build a new departmental operations manual. After successfully going through a month-end, quarter-end and year-end close, I trained a financial analyst to take over my functions and gradually transferred all my responsibilities.
