What was your first job?

My first job was working for the Big K, or K-mart company. I was sixteen years old, and I started out as a floor associate. This job consisted of anything from collecting carts from the parking lot and bringing them inside and helping customers load their vehicles with their purchases to cleaning up any mess discovered from spills to human excretion to mysteriously deceased fowls in the parking lot. You know the saying, "It's a dirty job, but somebody has to do it." I was that "somebody." Anyways, I did get some positives out of working there. For instance, I was actively working one on one with customers. Therefore, I learned and established people skills. I also learned to take on any responsibility and task with pride, no matter how dirty or unrewarding the job. At the end of the day, it builds character.... read more
