How would you describe your time at Level 3 Communications?

Adelphia Business Solutions went bankrupt and emerged as TelCove (while I worked as a 'Switch Installation Technician' and later as the Supervisor of my former group). TelCove was purchased by Level 3 Communications and I accepted a role as an Engineer on an integration team (Level 3 had purchased 6 telecom companies and needed to tie them all together). Though my title was Engineer, I was more of an inter-company single point of contact for the construction of the SONET interconnects between all companies (OC12 to OC192 level). I have since moved into a more mainstream Engineering role, designing circuits in multiple systems and coordinating field work and testing to ensure due dates are set accordingly and met.... read more

How would you describe your time at Adelphia Business Solutions...?

Worked from entry-level technician building trunks and T1s from Lucent 5ESS switches to Titan 5500 DACS equipment to the Supervisor of my group. The technical role was unique in that we Engineered (designed) our own DLRs, built our trunks in the switches, built our own network cross connects at the T1-level to Titan DACS's, then tested and turned up the trunks with the LEC of choice - we got to have our hands in many processes.... read more

Inside and outside plant technician for 4.5 years in the US Air Force. There I learned the basics of telecom from building lines in the MSL/DMS switches to PBX work and basic field troubleshooting.
