For over 16 years, I performed all facets of the organization. My work experience was split between adminstrative/management and desktop publishing functions.
I assisted in maintaining our customer database in Paradox (over 10,000 customers); maintained satisfied customer relations via effective telephone, email and written correspondence handling discrepancies with tact; oversaw and performed mailing and shipping functions of products (labels, mailings, post office delivery, tracking); implemented, supervised and maintained all office organization, files and supply ordering.
As a desktop publisher, I designed and implemented page layout in books,a magazine, marketing materials and advertising (mail order brochures and letters) and classified advertisements for national magazines using PageMaker 7.0 and Publisher. I acted as executive editor for bi-yearly writing anthologies for over 15 years and a quarterly literary magazine where I secured contributors & staff writers, wrote copy, planned, edited and formatted.
Assistance was given in accounting/finances by posting cash/credit card payments, refund adjustments, accounts payable/receivables, prepared bank deposits, cut checks, and handled collections.
I prepared analysis of accounts by evaluating sales and revenue spread sheet reports....

How would you describe your time at Macomb Adult Day Care Center?
I supervised and engaged senior clients age 55 and up at a drop off day care facility.
This entailed building rapport and careful listening with the patrons and understanding special needs for individual sensory impairments ranging from low to high mental functioning. Clients were individuals who had suffered from stroke, cognitive and memory impairment, Alzheimer's, visual and hearing impairment, Schizophrenia, and/or physical handicaps.
I facilitated rapport, interaction, and bonding of these clients in individual, small and large groups by initiating conversation in activities such as crafts, exercise, lunch, and in reminiscence groups.
Part of my Internship was assisting in family in-take evaluations.
I also created monthly reports for the Council on Aging and re-wrote policies and procedures manual....

How would you describe your time at Capital Cities Cable?
Although trained in computer programming, when I hired in at Capital Cities, I worked in Accounts Payables. At the time I started the company was expanding and would be developing a computer department. It was my intentin to switch to this area when it opened up.
After working in Accounts Payable for about one year, I was switched to Accounts Receivables. By this time, the company had merged with another and we acquired several state-wide cable companies.
Over my time, I matched, batched, coded invoices, data entered, posted reconciliation's, and researched/resolved accounts receivable issues.
I skillfully utilized office equipment including a copy machine, ten-key calculator, and computer. Often I was on the telephone clarifying or researching sitations either in the payables or receivables departments.
After my daily input, I created reports and helped analyze data for management....

Since I transferred in with an AS degree, I had most my liberal arts courses behind me. My focus was in Human Resources with a focus in Youth/Adult Services and a specialty in Gerontology.
Education is important to me and doing my best is key. I graduated Cum Laude.

How would you describe your time at oakland community college?
In 1980, computer programming was one an upcoming job skill. Since my focus was to develop skills to find employment, and I am a detail-oriented and systematic person, I found I had a high apptitude for the course work.
I dedicated myself to studing and learning while working part-time at the school bookstore. This facilitated my need to interact with people, earn an income and provide me the capability to spend time in the computer lab....
