What profession other than yours would you like to try?

This is the perfect question for my particular situation. The bulk of my experience stems from the I.T. industry in a technical support capacity. Now, armed with a shiny new bachelor degree with a focus on management, there are several possibilities that I could pursue, however, one more than any other invigorates me: the sales profession.

Zig Ziglar, once said, "Nothing happens until someone sells something." This applies to everything we do in life. We are always in a position where we're either selling or being sold something, whether it is the choice of which restaurant you and your significant other want to eat at, which movie to go and see or which vacation destination to visit. I like to make things happen and I believe that the sales profession is a tremendous fit with my capabilities and potential.

Every past experience has helped shape who I am today and has contributed to making sales a perfect fit. For example, my I.T. experience has allowed me to develop sound analytical and problem solving skills. Sales is all about discovering a need and then finding a solution to solve it. My recent experience at TELUS working as a Help Desk Specialist has not only helped me develop better interpersonal and communication skills, but also has shown me how to manage stress and pressure effectively. My tenure at Heenan Blaikie LLP, one of Canada's most prestigious law firms, has given me an opportunity to feel at ease interacting with prominent and top level decision makers. My experience as VP Marketing at the Concordia Entrepreneurship and Management Association has allowed me to refine my presentation and public speaking skills as well as people management and motivational skills. Finally, I have an entrepreneurial spirit and am a self-starter and albeit having a failed business venture under my belt, this experience has taught me that there is a tremendous amount to learn from any failure.

I am determined to begin a career in sales and I aspire to exceed all goals and expectations along the way to become successful as I contribute and add value to the future organization that gives me such an opportunity.
