Who was your most influential mentor and what did they teach you?

I worked with a woman who was a senior database designer. She taught me how to design, build and maintain databases. She was a great inspiration to me. She had started out as a Secretary (which I too did) and worked her way all the way up the ladder to senior designer. She took me under her wing and taught me all that she knew from the ground up in 3 years. She then retired and left me as the Senior database designer.
